My assistant is not showing up on my website
You pasted the code and nothing happened. There are six reasons, they look identical from the outside, and your dashboard can tell you which one you have.
Start here rather than guessing. In your dashboard, open SMART Voice → Put your assistant to work, scroll to Check it worked, type the address of the page you pasted the code into, and press the button. We load that page and tell you exactly what we found.
Everything below explains what each answer means.
"That website is not on your allowed list"
This is the most common one by a mile, and it is invisible from the outside: your code is on the page, it is correct, and we turn every visitor away because the address is not on your list.
It usually happens because of the three letters www. You added joespizza.com, and your hosting quietly sends every visitor to www.joespizza.com, which is a different address as far as a browser is concerned.
The fix is one button. The checker offers to add the exact address your visitors actually land on, and then re-checks straight away.
"The code is not in this page"
Work through these in order. It is almost always the first one.
- Did you publish? Wix, Squarespace and GoDaddy all keep your changes as a draft until you press Publish. Your own browser may show the new version while nobody else's does.
- Is this the same page you pasted it into? If you used a per-page code box, it is only on that page. Try your home page address.
- Did it go into a text box rather than a code box? Most builders strip code pasted into a normal paragraph. It has to go into the custom code, footer or code injection box.
- Did the whole line get copied? Use the Copy button rather than selecting the text by hand. A line missing its last few characters does nothing.
If you added the code through Google Tag Manager, we genuinely cannot see it from the outside, and the checker says so rather than pretending. Open your website in a private browser window and look for the button instead.
"It belongs to a different widget"
There is a widget on the page, but it is not yours. This happens with two locations, or when a code from an old email gets reused. Copy your code again from your dashboard and replace the whole line.
"It is switched off"
Your code is right, your website is on the list, and the channel itself is turned off, so nothing paints. Switch it on and check again.
"This page is not secure"
This one only affects the voice button. Web browsers refuse to let any website use a visitor's microphone unless the page is served securely, over https rather than http. There is nothing we can change on our side.
Ask whoever hosts your website to turn on https. It is normally free and normally a single switch. In the meantime, the chat window works fine, and so does a link or a QR code pointing at a page we host.
"We could not load that page"
We could not reach your website at all. Check the address for a typo, check the page is published rather than password-protected, and try again in a minute. Some hosts also block anything that is not a person with a browser, which we cannot work around.
It says everything is fine and I still cannot see it
- Look in a private or incognito window. Your browser may be showing you a cached copy of your own site.
- Check on your phone as well as your computer.
- Turn off any ad blocker for your own site while you look.
- Check the corner it is set to appear in. If your site already has a chat bubble or a cookie banner in the bottom right, move one of them.
