Enable SMS on a number

In the number's settings, check Enable SMS on this number under Text messaging. Not every number supports SMS — look for the SMS capability badge when buying.

The Messages inbox

Open Messages in the sidebar. Conversations are listed on the left; select one to read the thread and reply. Start a new thread with New and the recipient's number. If you have several SMS-enabled numbers, a From picker chooses which one you're texting from.

  • Enter sends; Shift+Enter adds a new line. Messages can be up to 1,600 characters.
  • Each message shows its status: Sending, Sent, Delivered, or Failed.
  • Recipients who reply STOP are automatically unsubscribed and can't be texted until they reply START — this is a carrier requirement.

Carrier A2P registration. US carriers require businesses texting from local numbers to register their traffic (A2P 10DLC). Registration tooling is coming to the dashboard's Trust & Compliance section; until then, if your messages fail to deliver, contact support@dialringo.com.

Texting requires an active subscription; if you see “Texting is a paid feature,” add a payment method and subscribe under Billing.
